Hi Reader! About a month ago, I put new batteries in my bathroom scale and stepped on. It was what I expected after a stressful winter, where I knew that I was stress eating a lot. This past winter, my dad was in the hospital for about 3 weeks, Christmas barely happened, my whole house got the flu (bad), and overall it was just not a fun month tbh. So when the scale showed me all the weight I gained, I was not surprised. I knew my face was puffier too. And since I teach people nutrition and how to fix their metabolism for a living, it sort of degraded at my self-esteem too because I am supposed to be the example, right? (I am human too) It took about a month, but the weight that I gained over the winter is gone. I did not diet. In fact, I barely exercised. There were weeks in January, where I did no running. No exercise at all. (I checked my running app and I only ran 3x in Feb and each time was like 1-2 mi...very little for me). The changes I made were 100% food-related.1. I stopped snacking after dinner.Bulk of my extra calories were definitely coming in after dinner. That's when the stress and exhaustion hits the worst and I just wanted cookies. Stopping wasn't easy at first, but I tricked my brain by either having tea, seltzer, or just brushing my teeth earlier. This shut off the craving. Eventually, the cravings stopped all together because I changed the cues that led to cookies, so I don't need these cheats anymore. 2. I drank miso soup almost everyday with my lunch.I will never stop preaching about the powers of fermented foods and how fast they fix your body. In order to make this easy for me, I prepared a batch of broth in the beginning of the week and microwaved a mug with my lunch. Easy. (PS: All my food reels are my lunches, if you want to see exactly what I eat). 3. I stopped putting sugar in my second (and third) cup of coffee. This advice actually came to me via Gemini. (does anyone just have conversations with it now? I totally do. Haha). But it recommended to me that its fine to keep my first cup of coffee in the morning how I actually want (1 tsp of sugar), but take out the sugar for the rest (when I am more awake and ok with that change). Its such a silly-stupid thing. But it actually completely stopped my afternoon sugar cravings, and I did not want sugar at all for the rest of the day (and night too!). __________ I think overall, it just came down to eliminating sneaky calories and eliminating sugar cravings. Did it happen overnight? No. Was everyday a success? No. But it still worked. Didn't even exercise. No calorie or macro counting (you know I hate that). My weight is back to where it was in November before life happened(5-7 lb lighter). My face doesn't look puffy anymore. And honestly, I just feel better. And it only took 1 month. Let me know if you find these types of emails helpful! Hit reply and let me know!! Love, Lia PS: If you are struggling with getting rid of your winter weight too (or just can't figure out what you are doing wrong), hit reply and let me know. I want to help! (or click here). |
