Hi Reader! If you have a monthly menstrual cycle, you need to stop taking weight loss advice from someone who doesn't. Men lose weight easier than women. The calories in/calories out approach works perfectly for them. It's why you only see men promoting it. That approach doesn't work for someone whose metabolism literally changes by the day. (PS: Its also why majority of metabolism-related research is done on 20 yo men!) Let me explain: Women's cycles (our hormones) control our metabolism (ability to burn sugar and fat). Since our hormones change daily, our metabolism changes daily too. This is why you need to follow advice from women (or at least men who get this. I have seen few though....). Women are naturally more insulin resistant (blame estrogen). So we can't tolerate sugar the same way. (however we do burn fat better! ) And what's even more annoying, it gets worse in our luteal part of the cycle. AND, when we wake up, our body makes more cortisol (stress hormone) that inhibits our sugar metabolism even more! It's why women need to approach weight loss and just overall fitness differently. We need to be a bit more strategic in our food choices. โAnd i got some good hacks here. โ Love, Lia PS: In case you missed it. Here is a free guide to get you started. โ |
